Behind the Curtain: OBT's Melissa Chapski and Sava Milojevic
At Dosha Salon Spa, we love celebrating artistry, beauty, and the inspiring individuals who bring performances to life. As the official beauty sponsor of Oregon Ballet Theatre, we are excited to highlight Sava and Melissa, a couple whose love story began in Germany and continues to thrive both on and off the stage. Join us as we explore their journey, passion for ballet, and how a stunning hair refresh at Dosha, a premier Portland hair salon, has them feeling confident and radiant.

A Love Story in Motion
Ballet is not just a job for Sava and Melissa, it is the foundation of their relationship. The two first met in Munich while Melissa was joining a ballet company in Germany that Sava had already been working at.
"We met right in front of the German administrative office in Munich," Sava recalls.
"It was one of my first days there, and Sava just appeared," Melissa adds. "We instantly had that connection where your heart is racing and you think, 'This is interesting...'"

Dancing Through Life Together
For Sava and Melissa, ballet plays a huge role in their lives.
"Ballet is everything for us," Sava says. "It is what brought us together, and it keeps us growing as dancers and as a couple."
Melissa nods. "Over the last four years, we have become such a big part of each other's lives. When you are single, it is easy to throw yourself entirely into ballet. But when you find your person, they become just as important as your career."
Dancing together was not always easy. Their first show as partners, Cinderella, was a challenge. "We fought every day," Melissa laughs. "But we grew together and figured out how to make it work." More recently, they performed as the Sugar Plum Fairy and Cavalier in The Nutcracker, an experience that felt amazing.
"After dancing with other partners, I really felt like there was a part missing. Dancing with Sava makes it feel whole," Melissa shares.
Their chemistry on stage is undeniable. "The chemistry is just there, we do not have to work much at that," Sava says with a smile."

Personal Style and Beauty Transformations

When it comes to personal style, Melissa keeps it cozy in the winter with Lululemon layers but embraces a carefree, sun-kissed vibe in the summer. "Flip-flops, bikinis, barefoot if I can. And I always wear big earrings and mascara."
Sava, on the other hand, sticks to his tried-and-true outfit formulas. "I like keeping it simple but stylish."
Their recent visit to Dosha Salon Spa, an Aveda salon known for expert hair color and balayage in Portland, was a first-time hair transformation for Melissa with Master Stylist Kim Botner.
"I love the color. It is such a pretty chestnut, a total contrast to my natural hair. I have never colored my hair before, and I just love it."
Sava, who takes a more laid-back approach, trusted his Master Stylist Jessica Watts completely. "Hairdressers are artists too, so I gave them a little idea and let them work their magic. Jess did a great job."
Adventures Beyond Ballet
Outside the studio, Sava and Melissa share a passion for adventure. They love traveling, hiking, camping, and backpacking together, always seeking new experiences. And as self-proclaimed food lovers, they are always on the hunt for the best eats in Portland.
"One of our favorite finds is Pig Patas Tacos," Melissa says. "We stumbled upon it after a performance one night and thought, 'This place is amazing!'"
"It reminds me of being in Mexico," Sava adds. "The flavors are so authentic."
Another favorite is VilleVelo Bake Shop. "Everything is homemade, and we just love it," Melissa shares.
As they continue to take the stage together, Sava and Melissa's journey is a testament to love, dedication, and the beauty of partnership both in dance and in life. At Dosha, we are honored to be part of their story, helping them look and feel their best as they captivate audiences with their artistry.
