Behind the Curtain: OBT's Ruby Mae Lefebvre
As the proud beauty sponsor of Oregon Ballet Theatre, the Dosha Creative Team was thrilled to collaborate with OBT dancer Ruby Mae Lefebvre for a stunning hair refresh.
We invite you to step Behind the Curtain to learn more about Ruby, her life as a ballerina, and her service experience with Dosha.

What is something that might surprise people about ballet?
"Once you really get into the nitty-gritty, you find out how tough we really are. We can be in pointe shoes for up to 8 hours a day sometimes. Our feet are strong—they can bleed—but it’s all for beauty."
What do you hope the audience takes away from your performance?
"When dancing on stage, I try to share an extension of myself at my most vulnerable with the audience. My hope is for it to challenge their minds or be an escape for those 2 or 3 hours."

How do you relax and unwind outside of the studio?
"I love to unwind at home with my dog and watch TV with my family. It’s important for me to have balance outside of dance too. I also enjoy getting outside, especially at Tryon Creek, where I can just listen and take in all the nature."
How did the hand massage, a signature part of Dosha hair services, enhance your experience?
"We ballerinas spend so much time customizing our pointe shoes to fit perfectly, sewing and adding pieces with our hands. When I had the hand massage during my Dosha service, it was so relaxing—I didn’t realize how much my hands needed it until that moment."
How many pairs of pointe shoes do you go through?
"I could easily go through 2-3 pairs a week - about 60 pairs in an OBT season!"
